Sónar+D, the leading digital culture and creative technologies meeting of the Sónar festival, is preparing its eleventh edition with a fascinating proposal focused on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the arts.
From June 15 to 17, 2023 at the Fira de Barcelona Congress Center, 130 proposals will be programmed to explore the cultural, ethical and economic implications of the creative processes related to Artificial Intelligence (AI).
In an official statement, the Sónar+D organization has announced that it will address the role of AI in music and audiovisual production.
Also, the potential threats that this technology poses to intellectual property protection.
The program of activities includes debates, conferences, masterclasses and carefully selected tech shows.
All in order to provide inspiration and encourage networking among prominent artists, technologists, creatives, musicians, designers, thinkers, scientists and entrepreneurs.
Sónar+D has established itself as the international meeting of digital art and culture since 2013.

For three days, Barcelona will become the epicenter of innovation, attracting professionals and onlookers from more than 100 countries.
This event offers a unique, open and relaxed environment where you can discover groundbreaking work, learn new skills, showcase initiatives and seize opportunities.
The Sónar+D 2023 program will feature the participation of entities and experts from 30 countries, including renowned academic institutions.
These include the Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC).
In addition, special prominence will be given to HacTe, Barcelona’s art, science and technology hub, as well as local companies and startups that merge art and technology.
On an international level, Sónar+D will feature leading artists and experts such as visual artist Weirdcore, producer and columnist Elijah and robotics ethicist Kate Darling.
In addition, projects from renowned centers such as the Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique (Ircam) in Paris and Aalto University in Finland, among others, will be presented.
The program of the event
The meeting will be held in a variety of formats, including the new “Project Area”, which will present more than 80 innovative projects.
In addition, there will be a film festival developed by IA in collaboration with UPF, along with discussion forums and specialized symposiums with the presence of more than one hundred experts.
Together they will discuss innovation in music, the convergence between art, science and technology, and the role of AI in the emerging Web3 paradigm.
In addition, Sónar+D will address the issue of the climate emergency and the various ways in which artistic communities act in response to the problem.
