The exhibition, entitled “Sorolla, a new dimension,” will open its doors on February 9, 2024 at the Centre d’Art Amatller (Passeig de Gràcia, 41, L’Eixample).

Tickets will be on sale from December 19, 2023 and those eager to immerse themselves in this unique journey can already sign up for the waiting list to gain exclusive access.

“Sorolla, a new dimension” is not just an exhibition; it is a dynamic and technologically advanced tribute to the life and work of Sorolla. With more than 1,000 square meters of space at Casa Amatller in Passeig de Gràcia, the exhibition joins the celebration of Sorolla Year, commemorating the centenary of the death of the renowned painter.

“Sorolla, a new dimension”: the immersive experience

The exhibition has been successful in Valencia, attracting more than 55,000 visitors, and will now dazzle Barcelona with its innovative proposal using pioneering technological resources.

Drawing inspiration from venues such as the Atelier des Lumières in Paris, the TeamLab in Tokyo and the Artechouse in Washington, “Sorolla, a new dimension” uses immersive 360º projections, virtual reality, digital installations and scenographies to take viewers on a journey through the artist’s mind.

Sorolla’s paintings, which capture the beauty of the everyday, come to life in this unique exhibition.

From spectacular sunsets to children playing on endless beaches, the exhibition becomes a window through which visitors can explore the various scenes painted by the master.

An extraordinary exhibition

The immersive room, with more than 500 square meters of screen, presents a journey from the Malvarrosa beach, a frequent setting in Sorolla’s works, to the elegant salon of the Hispanic Society of America.

The latter houses dimensioned works by Sorolla, offering a tour of the world where the artist captured the essence of Spain, France and Italy.

360-degree projections accompanied by music composed exclusively for the exhibition, which incorporates musical references from the period, transform the experience into a multi-sensory spectacle.

In addition to Sorolla’s own masterpiece, the exhibition includes works by six contemporary digital artists who interpret Sorolla using cutting-edge technological tools such as artificial intelligence, animation and graphics.

This modern approach seeks to offer a contemporary perspective on what Sorolla’s work means in today’s context.

“Sorolla, a new dimension” is not only an event of the Sorolla Year, but an interactive journey through the universe of impressionism and light now in Barcelona.
