In the heart of Barcelona in the Born14, a gastronomic marketplace presented a revolutionary platform that is changing the lives of restaurateurs: Square.
This exclusive event for the city’s restaurateurs attracted numerous professionals from the gastronomic world, influencers and even the mayor, Jaume Collboni, who recognized the importance of supporting innovation in the restaurant industry to enhance the city’s gastronomic offer.
Born14, located in the old Mercat de la Princesa, is presented as a unique gastronomic space with 14 different stalls, capable of accommodating 250 people. Its purpose is to satisfy a latent need in the city: to offer a place that fuses local, national and innovative cuisine.
Arnau Sanz, one of the partners of Born14 and owner of Pecado, highlighted the variety of the gastronomic offer and the capacity of the place to cater to different culinary preferences.
The Square platform for better management
The highlight of the event was the presentation of Square, a platform that promises to simplify the daily management of gastronomic establishments. All restaurant operations are integrated into a single platform, from purchase management and inventory control to customer payments and subsequent summary statistics.
Ana Muñoz, Square’s EU Sales Director, explained that although there are platforms that perform these operations separately, Square integrates them all. “Thanks to this integration, the restaurateur is aware of any data about his business at all times, which gives him great autonomy and control that saves him time and money,” added Muñoz.
The Square system allows you to accept card payments, including those of major banks, as well as mobile devices. In addition, it facilitates detailed inventory and invoice tracking, digital order management for the kitchen, staff shift planning and online sales. Muñoz pointed out that the system significantly improves customer service.
An event to highlight
The event was attended by renowned professionals in the gastronomic field, such as Elías Dosunmu, Madrid chef and TikTok winner, and Pablo Cabezalli, youtuber specialized in restaurant tasting. Also present were Joe Burgerchallenge, burger expert; and Alberto Gras, MasterChef contestant and owner of Deleito restaurant.
The restaurateurs present expressed their enthusiasm for Square’s functionalities. Alberto Gras shared his personal experience, noting that his father used to use pen and paper in his business, but since he opened his first restaurant, he has adopted Square, experiencing a significant change that makes his life easier and contributes to the growth of his business.
Joe Burgerchallenge also praised the platform, describing it as a “must-have in any restaurant.” He noted that, during his travels in the United States, the use of management systems such as Square is commonplace and he was excited that it was coming to Barcelona.
Square was presented in a gastronomic context, highlighting its versatility to adapt to different types of businesses, from restaurants to retail, beauty salons, hairdressing salons, cabs and large events.
