The best cava in Spain is from Barcelona. Although Catalan cava has always stood out, this year the Peñín Guide, one of the most prestigious in the world, reconfirmed it. He noted that the best producers are located in Alella (El Maresme), a popular wine-growing area located just a few minutes from the Catalan capital.
In particular, the 2010 and 2012 vintages of Alta Alella 10 Gran Reserva, belonging to the Pujol-Busquets family, were awarded.
The bottle of cava costs 120 euros each and is aged for a minimum of 10 years.
The Pujol-Busquets family states that this cava has “its own personality”, “the soul of a great wine” and stands out for its “freshness, elegance and complexity”.
The Peñín Guide describes it as a cava with aromas of toasted caramel, candied fruit and fine lees with a bright golden color.
In summary, it is tasty, oily, elegant, with fine bitterness and fine bubbles.
