Gastronomy, crafts, music and sustainable leisure plans. The German.Local.Culture global campaign of the German National Tourist Office lands in Barcelona with an event that brings German culture in all its facets.

The German National Tourist Office (ONAT) launched a new campaign in May this year (German.Local.Culture #YoursTrulyGermany) inspired by customs, traditions and cultural diversity. Its aim is to arouse the curiosity of international travelers to experience authentic German life.
Now this campaign arrives in Barcelona as a participatory event that seduces travelers interested in culture and cities, and that also serves as a bridge between two territories that share a lot and that seek to enhance and recover optimism and the desire to live and travel.
The Saturday, October 9 the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site will host the event ‘Germany closer to you’, which will show different facets of German cities such as customs, crafts and manufacturing, gastronomy, culture, landscape and nature, based on the axes of the campaign ‘German.Local.Culture’.
The project, which is supported by the Berlin Tourist Board (visitBerlin), the Rhine-Romantic Region (both present at the event) and the Goethe Foundation, is based on these four axes and responds to the most important motivations of travelers and offers them orientation in the tourism context.
- “Flair” tells us about the atmosphere of German cities, street art, architectural styles, neighborhoods, history and cultural offerings.
- “Craft. To get to know and enjoy handicraft traditions up close, to show the many treasures that Germany holds in terms of customs and traditions.
- “Taste. Regional and cosmopolitan gastronomic pleasures. Not forgetting the pairing with wines and beers.
- “Green. Sustainability as a global megatrend and a priority when planning a trip, looking for sustainable offers in the cities and combining the cultural life of the “cities” with the possibility of making excursions to discover the surrounding nature.
How can I participate and attend the event?
The webapp alemanyasantpau.com/ will be the connector of the whole event. By logging in you will be able to reserve a place to enter the event. We will also be able to consult all the extended information about the destinations and the agenda of the activities in which we can participate, since some of them will be of reserved access after registration. In order to comply with Covid’s strict security measures, two shifts have been established, morning and afternoon, with controlled and restricted capacity.
What will I find in ‘Germany closer to you’?
Integrated and adapted to the unique beauty of the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site, visitors can take a tour and enjoy, among other activities:
Smell workshop
We will discover the smells of Germany and all the secrets and properties of aromatic plants and discover the smells of Germany from the hand of a perfumer.
Showcooking
We will prepare a typical and traditional German recipe. In addition, we will be able to taste other iconic specialties of the area.
Tastings
A tasting of German organic wines from the Romantic Rhine area.
Craft and Flair
Germany’s style in an upcycling workshop in which we will design our own totebag, having at our disposal all the necessary material and an expert designer to guide us.
For the youngest visitors, and with the help of the Jewish Museum BerlinThe children can travel to the myth of Noah’s Ark and learn about animals and their environment and the best way to coexist together on the planet with fun coloring cards.
And with the help of Berlin Urban Dance, a choreographer will help us move to the rhythm of the best playlist.

Attendees will have to be very attentive to everything around them, because they will also be able to participate through the webapp in a fun game of questions and answers about everything they are experiencing and learning there. From 6 correct questions you can get gifts and surprises.
And to liven up the day, the stage will vibrate with the music band Dinamo.
