Until March 20, 2022 the Foto Colectania Foundation exhibits the exhibition “Face Control” which addresses the issue of image control in the digital era.
The group exhibition brings together the works of more than 20 artists representing this genre, such as Paglen, Lombroso and Lavater, among others.
The artistic exhibition analyzes the cultural, aesthetic and political consequences that come from the interest in dominating our faces in the digital age.
In their works they show the perception of the face as a neutral point between the image we have of ourselves and the image that others have of us.
Which in recent times translates into the perception between the image of the real face and the digital one.
The works depict the preservation and collection of human features, but with the support of facial recognition software.
The “Face Control” exhibition
The exhibition is a way to criticize the facial control generated by the digital society over citizens.
The works speak of the bidirectional control that falls on people’s faces: one refers to the way one wishes to be perceived and the other to the control exercised by the forces of power over personal identity, norms and canons.
“Face Control” was inaugurated in early December and will run until March 2022. Tickets are 3 euros and can be purchased directly at the foundation’s ticket office or booked online.
