Between February 16 and 19, Badalona will host the Copa del Rey basketball tournament, which is expected to gather thousands of attendees. Four days that will be celebrated in style with festive and sporting events.
Music, food and basketball at the Olympic Pavilion, which after 40 years, once again hosts the most important sporting event in Spain.
According to the Mayor of Badalona, Rubén Guijarro, for the municipality to be the home of the Cup has been “an injection of self-esteem and pride”.
The event has been the occasion for a variety of proposals such as exhibitions and concerts. All efforts seek to motivate all basketball lovers and those who want to go to have a good time, to go to Badalona for those days and get infected with sportsmanship.
Sports and musical events
One of the protagonists of the Copa del Rey, in addition to the sporting events, will be the Movistar Cage, with a Fan Zone that will feature a large urban track.
The Movistar Cage will be the setting for dance battles, live DJs, band performances and video game booths.
All events will be accessible to the public of all ages between Thursday 16 and Sunday 19 in the Rambla del Gorg.
Attendees will also be able to enjoy Endesa’s spaces that will offer basket shooting areas and different shooting and basketball skills challenges.
For its part, Toyota will be present with a stand with video games and basketball.
Divina Seguros, with baskets and trampolines, as well as Spalding with a merchandising store. Baskonia, Club Juventut Badalona and Valencia Basket will also be present.
The ACB District App will also be present with a jumping challenge.
The King’s Basketball Cup in Badalona: a long-awaited event
The different participating teams that will compete for the cup will meet on Saturday, February 18 at 11:30 am also in the Rambla del Gorg. From there it will begin the tour through the streets of Badalona to culminate with an exhibition of the Castellers.
There will also be food trucks and a Fira Gastronòmica where attendees can enjoy good food at the beginning and end of each game.
During the Night of the Cup will be held the nightlife area of the polygon Can Ribó. In addition, the City Council has organized a big party from Friday night to Saturday, which is estimated to last until 4:00 am.
In fact, the Cup has already begun in the Pompeu Fabra square with a photo exhibition in the street with 40 unforgettable images of basketball.
