The casting has been an exciting experience in which the participants have demonstrated their talent and dedication to be part of this production. More than 60 young people registered for the auditions, but only 35 will be selected to play the 15 characters of the musical.
The Musical “Los Chicos del Coro” chooses its stars
The auditions included dancing and singing, which allowed the casting directors to evaluate both vocal skills and dancing abilities. The participants demonstrated their talent on stage and received valuable tips from the examiners to improve their performance.
The musical’s executive producer, Rafael Coto, explained that the choice of participants is based on various criteria, such as physical appearance and age, which must be consistent with the characters they will represent.
He also revealed that the cast will have its own school, where the young actors will be trained in vocal technique and movement technique for four hours a day, allowing them to develop their skills and enjoy an enriching experience.
About the musical work
The musical “The Choirboys” is based on a story set in a boarding school for boys in 1949 France, where a newly arrived teacher motivates the children to join the school choir. The chorale’s success not only saves the school from bankruptcy, but also transforms children’s lives, giving them inspiration and hope.
Coto’s production has introduced a novelty compared to the original film by allowing girls to be part of the chorus as well. This has opened up new opportunities for young talent and brought a fresh touch to the show.
The musical “Los Chicos del Coro” not only provides entertainment, but has also had a positive impact on the lives of many children, helping them to increase their self-esteem and overcome mental health problems. Parents have expressed their gratitude for the change this musical has brought to their children’s lives.
The Barcelona production features a top-notch team, including stage director Juan Luis Iborra and musical director Rodrigo Alvarez.
The cast will be headed by Manu Rodríguez, who will play Professor Mathieu, the main character of the story. The cast will also include well-known performers from the music scene, such as Chus Herranz and Rafa Castejón.
