The office contracting market is recovering in Barcelona. The Catalan capital is expected to achieve asset intake during 2022 in excess of 300,000 square meters, improving on last year’s levels.
According to the real estate consulting firm CBRE, during the first quarter of this year, office space in Barcelona reached 90,500 square meters. 25% more compared to the same period in 2021.
In the framework of the XIII Real Estate Trends Seminar, organized by CBRE, the Esade Alumni Real Estate Club and Urban Land Institute, ULI, executives from the firm CBRE stated that Barcelona during 2021 broke the historical record by becoming the city in Europe with the greatest exposure to the technology sector.
They also affirmed that “a city capable of attracting companies is a city capable of attracting investment”.
Hiring of offices in Barcelona
Companies from different sectors are making their presence felt in the city. Especially those in the technology sector. Most of them demand better support in financing for the development and growth of their businesses.
Other companies indicate that there is a need to limit the price of gas in the wholesale market in Portugal and Spain.
Other companies believe that the rise in electricity prices over the last few months is a good opportunity to accelerate the energy transition. Cleaner and more economical systems and technologies can be used.
