Curious armrests on metro L1 for better accessibility
The Line 4 extension project aims to significantly increase the connectivity and robustness of Barcelona’s public transport system.
The aim is to facilitate connections with lines L1, L5 and L9, as well as with Rodalies and high-speed trains.
The goal is for the extension to capture a demand of 43,000 users per day, which translates into more than 15 million passengers per year.
The project will have a total investment of 375 million euros and will save 3,860 hours in working days and the emission of 1,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year.
The new stations and works for the extension of Metro Line 4
The Barcelona Metro Line 4 extension project will have three new stations, one of which, Santander, will be located between La Pau and Sagrera-TAV.
While most of the tunnel needed for this new extension is already built (it is used for lines L9 and L10 north), the project will require the excavation of a new 320-meter open cut tunnel between screens and some work on the two existing tunnel sections.
The Government declared that 100% of the civil works for La Sagrera-TAV and La Sagrera stations have already been completed.
The main objective of the project is to improve the mobility of citizens and reduce travel times.
In addition, it will also contribute to reducing pollution in the city, which is in line with the administration’s environmental objectives.
The extension of Line 4 of the Barcelona metro will allow citizens to travel more efficiently and sustainably.
This will improve their quality of life and the environment in the city.
