The transformation of Masía Can Miralletes into a children’s and environmental space.

In the heart of the Camp de l’Arpa neighborhood, Barcelona has witnessed the reinvention of one of its historical jewels. The Can Miralletes farmhouse, a structure that has stood the test of time since the 18th century, has been reborn from its decade of disuse to become a space dedicated to children and environmental education.

This building, which has seen different uses over the years, from a Catalan cuisine restaurant to a period of inactivity, has been restored and adapted to accommodate a new life focused on children, families, schools and entities interested in the enjoyment of educational entertainment.

The renovation has not only given the farmhouse a renewed air, but has also integrated the original essence of the building, preserving its historical aspect while adapting its interiors to provide a safe and functional environment for recreational and educational activities.

The transformation of Can Miralletes Farmhouse

This transformation focuses not only on the interior of the building, but also on the surrounding gardens that are still in the process of rehabilitation. The project includes the renovation of furniture, the irrigation network and the children’s playground, among other improvements.

The primary focus of this new space is to offer a diverse range of activities and workshops related to nature, climate and sustainability. The intention is that the children, together with their families, enjoy an enriching environment that allows them to learn and have fun at the same time.

Can Miralletes, in its new incarnation, is aligned with the city’s strategy to protect and regenerate its heritage. This effort is not only limited to the physical infrastructure, but also encompasses the intention of creating a social, participatory and educational space for the community, prioritizing the welfare of the youngest and their families.

Opening hours

Opening hours vary according to the season, offering opportunities to enjoy the space in both winter and summer. During the winter season, the opening hours are from Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 16:30 to 19:00, and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:00.

In summer, it maintains its morning schedule and extends its doors in the afternoons, opening from 5 to 8 p.m., except for the month of August, when it remains closed.

The transformation reaffirms the importance of preserving the city’s historic legacy while adapting to the needs and desires of present and future generations. The farmhouse, which has witnessed past eras, now becomes a pioneering space for learning, fun and connection with nature and sustainability in the vibrant city of Barcelona.
