Located at 17 kilometers, half an hour from Barcelona by train, for many an excellent transportation alternative as it is close to the coast. For others not so much, as the noise of the train does not help to leave the congested city behind.

Sant Simó Beach
It is located north of Mataró, capital of Maresme. It is a beach with a lot of history, as it is known as the “fort” or “the beach of the bunker”, as at one end there is a bunker from the Civil War. In its wide expanse of sand you can find different parking services, showers, hammocks, etc..
Of the region, this beach is considered the cleanest, most welcoming and least urban of all. Towards the north side there is a rocky bottom where you can appreciate the large amount of fish in the area.
Ponent and Almadrava Beaches
Before arriving to Vilassar de Mar there is a diversity of beaches ideal if you prefer the less crowded places. They are beaches with extensive sandy beaches, warm and clean. One of them is the Ponent beach, right next to Marina Port Premià, ideal for wave and surf lovers.
But if what you want is to practice paddle surfing or surf paddle, very fashionable in the Mediterranean, the best is the Almadrava beach. Undoubtedly another of the best beaches in Catalonia.
There you can rent boards to practice for 20€ per hour, and even take courses for beginners for 45€ to 60€, either individual or group.
