On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October, the 48 H Open House 2019 returns to Barcelona. This tenth edition of one of the most renowned festivals in Barcelona opens its doors to the public so you can enjoy and experience architecture for free.
During the weekend more than 200 buildings of different shapes, sizes and types will be open, as they are normally closed to the public. Some will be open both days, others only on Saturday or only on Sunday, and each has its own visiting hours.

The 48h Open House is a unique event in Barcelona that seeks to raise awareness of architecture as an essential element of culture. The project was born in 2010 and since then it has been very successful and has become an event of international stature.
During the two days you will be able to visit buildings of different periods and designs around the city. You will be able to see museums, houses, monuments, factories, libraries, universities, churches, schools, etc. There are many options.
Some of the places are the most emblematic monuments in Barcelona, such as the Arc de Triomf, the magic fountains of Montjuïc, the Santa Maria del Pi church, the Miró foundation, the Liceu circle, the Sant Pau hospital or Gaudí’s Bellesguard tower.
The organizers of the event propose thematic itineraries. Everything is completely free and the visits will be guided by architects or even by the owners of the places themselves.
The programming of 48 H Open House 2019 seeks to encourage the reflection that architecture goes beyond the facade of a building. These visits are part of the strategy for learning about architecture.
