This could be a very long list, because the most beautiful streets of Barcelona are usually many, not to say that almost all of them have their charm. Because, definitely, this is one of the most beautiful cities in the world full of art, architectural gems and gardens that seem taken from magical tales. However, we have selected some of them for you to make one of the most spectacular tours that this city has to offer: just walk, watch and let yourself be captivated by these places.
3 of the most beautiful streets of Barcelona
1. Sarrià Main Street
It connects the famous Artós square with Sarrià square. It has an indescribable charm, but we will try to convey in words what can only be discovered through personal experience. It is a neighborhood that breathes history and has an incredible character of its own.
As you walk down this cobblestone street, you will see that this was a town that has not lost the essence of yesteryear. You can make small excursions, but you can’t miss eating a bravas at the mythical Bar Tomás. Then delight yourself with the chocolate of the Foix pastry shop.
2. Carrer del Bisbe (Bishop’s Street)
If you like mystery, this street is for you, it is one of the most photographed places in the Gothic Quarter, which, although it looks extremely old, is no more than 100 years old, as it was built in the early 1900s. If you’re going to go, -and we’re sure you will- look up just below the bridge and you’ll see a skull with a dagger through it.
The meaning of the skull is not known for sure, but it is said that its architect, Joan Rubio i Bellver – a disciple of Gaudí – wanted to demolish all the buildings that were not in the Gothic style in order to build others that were. But as his project was not approved, as a sign of betrayal he included this skull.
3. Calle de la Volta dels Tamborets is one of the most beautiful streets in Barcelona.
If you walk along the Paseo del Born and before reaching the Fossar de les Moreres you will see some medieval arches on the left. They are tunnels that give access to some narrow streets, among them stands out the Calle de la Volta dels Tamborets.
We say that it is one of the most beautiful streets of Barcelona because this is one of the most welcoming corners of the Born, and it is thanks to the plants that are mixed with the green ceramic of the balconies that generate a very cozy feeling. Being there, take advantage and visit its beautiful stores of utensils and crafts, spaces that undoubtedly stand out for connecting the past of the neighborhood and mix it with the best of the most modern and fresh design, characteristics of what is now the Born.
