Today marks the fifth anniversary of 17A and the city will hold demonstrations and tributes to remember the tragedy that terrorized Barcelona.
Five years ago, on August 17, 2017, Younes Abouyaaqoub, a 22-year-old man driving a van, rammed dozens of people walking along the Ramblas at 5 p.m. in the afternoon.
He was able to cover a distance of 650 meters between Plaça de Catalunya and the Miró mosaic.
On this trip he killed thirteen people on site and injured more than a hundred others, one of whom died in hospital weeks later.
Abuyaaqoub was found hiding in a vineyard in Subirats and the Mossos shot him down.

The institutional act will be presented by the writer and poet Fàtima Saheb. There will also be the participation of the symphonic choir VOZES.
The wreath offering will be next to the memorial installed in the Pla de l’Ós de la Rambla, by relatives of the victims and the city authorities.
