The renowned travel and tourism portal Tripadvisor, chose Barcelona as the sixth best city in the world to eat.
It has earned a place in the ranking of the ten best on the planet, for its exquisite cuisine and the variety of ingredients and dishes.
And this recognition was created because eating is no longer just a physical act of living. Now food in the last decades has managed to reach the category of art and cultural good.
It is a unique moment to share with family or friends enjoying delicious delicacies to please the palate.
In fact, in Barcelona it is possible to find some Michelin-starred restaurants where it is possible to eat for less than 50 euros.
La Ciudad Condal: the sixth best city in the world for eating out
It is not surprising that Barcelona has taken this well-deserved place in the world rankings.
In fact, the city has 24 Michelin-starred restaurants thanks to their gastronomic excellence, varied offer of dishes and excellent service.
The Tripadvisor platform conducted a detailed study in which it considered the opinions of its users, reviews and their ratings. From this, they established the classification.
It should be noted that the Catalan capital is the only Spanish representative in the Top 10, whose first place was occupied by Italy, as the winning country.
What is particular is that three Italian cities are part of this list: Rome in first place, Florence in fourth place and Naples in eighth place.
In second place is the Greek island of Crete and in third place is Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.
In the fifth position before Barcelona is Paris (France), cradle and capital of the current French gastronomy.
Lisbon ranks seventh as a safe destination for good food.
The Top is closed by New Orleans in the United States, which ranked number nine thanks to the fact that it managed to combine the best of the southern food of the American state with the specialties of the Cajun ethnic group.
The tenth place was occupied by Jamaica as the only representative of Caribbean food.
Travellers Choice 2023 Awards
The travel platform Tripadvisor has published, as it does year after year, the winners of its “Travellers Choice” awards.
It has selected the best travel destinations, hotels and restaurants in the world, based on the ratings of its users.
Good news for Barcelona, which in the category of “Best Culinary Destinations” for 2023, took an honorable sixth place in the Top 10.
In the awards of the previous edition, year 2022, the Catalan capital ranked fifth in the same category. Being in the top ten represents a great and well-deserved achievement for the city where gastronomy is an art.
