Barcelona has witnessed a vibrant artistic tribute to the champions of Barça Femenino after their recent victory in the Champions League. Renowned street artist TvBoy has left his mark on the city with an impressive mural dedicated to three of the team’s stars: Alexia Putellas, Aitana Bonmatí and Salma Paralluelo.
This celebratory event not only highlights the sporting success, but also the inspirational power of these women in the social and cultural spheres.
FC Barcelona Femenino was crowned champion of the Women’s Champions League after defeating Olympique Lyonnais in a final played in Bilbao. This victory marks the third time the team has lifted the continental trophy, consolidating its dominance in women’s soccer worldwide.
Barça’s players have not only demonstrated their prowess on the field, but have also played a crucial role in promoting women’s sports and the fight for gender equality.
Barça Femenino’s victory was celebrated with enthusiasm throughout the city. Hundreds of fans gathered at Plaza Sant Jaume to congratulate the players and coaching staff.
The celebration was attended by prominent figures such as the acting president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, and the president of Barça, Joan Laporta.
TvBoy’s mural for Barça champions
TvBoy, an Italian artist based in Barcelona, known for his provocative and thoughtful murals, has immortalized this historic victory with a new work on the street of El Escorial with Travessera de Gràcia, near the Joanic subway.
The mural features Alexia Putellas, Aitana Bonmatí and Salma Paralluello as superheroines, each representing a comic book icon: Putellas as Superwoman, Bonmatí as Wonder Woman and Paralluello as Batgirl.
Meaning of the mural
The mural not only celebrates athletic success, but also sends a powerful message about female empowerment and inspiration. TvBoy has expressed that his work aims to congratulate FC Barcelona not only for its recent triumph, but also for being a “powerful group of women who inspire new generations towards change and a more equitable society, where everyone has the right to succeed and excel”.
TvBoy and his relationship with Barça
This is not the first time TvBoy has dedicated his art to FC Barcelona. His best known piece, “El Besón”, which shows Messi and Ronaldo embracing and kissing, has generated a great deal of attention and is part of the new White Rabbit museum. In addition, TvBoy has paid tribute to Aitana Bonmatí in October last year, following her Ballon d’Or win in Paris, and previously to Alexia Putellas for the same achievement.
