Fira de Barcelona, one of Europe’s most important trade fair institutions, has achieved a great feat by winning two new world-leading events in their respective sectors.
These two professional trade shows, which will be held in 2025, represent a major boost for the city of Barcelona and expand its portfolio of high value-added events.
The first of these events is the ICE (International Casino Exhibition), the leading global meeting of the gaming and betting industry. Until now, ICE was held in London, but Barcelona has won in a competition with cities such as Paris and Madrid to become the new venue for this prestigious event.
ICE is expected to attract more than 45,000 visitors from 150 countries and generate an estimated economic impact of 280 million euros. This event, organized by Clarion, will be held in January 2025.
In parallel, Fira de Barcelona has also secured Labelexpo Europe, the world’s largest trade fair for the packaging and label printing sector. This fair, which has been in Brussels for four decades, will come to Barcelona in the fall of 2025.
Labelexpo will bring together more than 500 companies in the sector and expects to welcome some 40,000 visitors from 140 countries.
Fira de Barcelona attracts two new international events for 2025
The attraction of these two important international events is very positive news for Fira de Barcelona and for the city as a whole.
Not only does it reinforce Barcelona’s position as a leading destination for trade fairs and professional events, but it also has a significant economic impact, attracting thousands of visitors from all over the world.
For ICE, Barcelona beat cities such as London, Paris and Madrid in a competitive process that lasted six months. More than 30 variables were analyzed with the help of an independent international agency to make the decision.
ICE organizers felt that Barcelona was best equipped to be their strategic partner and forge an important legacy for the future.
The success of Barcelona’s bid is due to its world-class facilities, excellent hotel and logistics infrastructure, and ability to scale to accommodate an event of this magnitude.
Positive impact on the city
Fira de Barcelona has once again demonstrated its ability to attract and organize major international events, consolidating its position as a global benchmark in the trade fair and exhibition sector.
The importance of these events lies not only in their relevance to the gaming and gambling industry and the packaging and label printing sector, but also in the positive impact they generate on the local economy.
In addition to ICE and Labelexpo Europe, the city has attracted other major events, such as Seafood and ISE, which were previously held in Brussels and Amsterdam, respectively.
