The Sofitel hotel chain enters the Spanish market with the “Hotel Sofitel Barcelona Skipper”.
It has 225 rooms, is a five-star establishment and involved an investment of 40 million euros by the fund that owns the establishment, Propreal Capital Partners.
Propreal is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It made the purchase of the property in 2016 from an Axa real estate fund for a transaction of €90 million.
Since then, he began to remodel and completely reposition it.
The new hotel is the result of the renovation of the old Pullman Barcelona hotel in the Olympic Port. The new offer contributes to strengthening the high segment of the hotel market in the city, with an average price per night above 300 euros.
The Sofitel Barcelona Skipper Hotel
It is located next to the Hotel Arts, the Parc de Recerca Biomédica, PRBB, and the Blue Building office building. In fact, just a few meters from the Somorrostro beach and the Olympic Port.
A vertical garden of about 300 square meters was installed on the hotel’s façade, giving it a simply beautiful, fresh and natural touch. It has already begun to receive its first guests.
In the first phase of remodeling that took place between 2018 and 2019 (it was still the Pullman), the lobby, the two terraces equipped with swimming pools (the lower one and the one on the rooftop) and the restaurants were successfully refurbished.
The second phase of remodeling, after the mandatory closure due to the pandemic, was resumed in 2021 and focused on renovating the building’s façade with the vertical garden.
It also included the renovation of all rooms from 242 to 225. Of this number, 25 are suites. Likewise, the convention area, the rooftop, the parking lot and the gymnasium (with the elimination of the spa) were completely refurbished.
