The renowned American filmmaker Woody Allen is preparing to open the new edition of the Voll-Damm Barcelona Jazz Festival on September 19, 2023.
Accompanied by his inseparable New Orleans Jazz Band, Allen will offer a concert at the Teatre Tívoli in the Catalan capital.
The musical event will also include the participation of renowned artists such as Sergio Mendes, Bebel Gilberto, Andrea Motis, Clara Peya and Michel Camilo.
Now 88 years old, Allen returns to Barcelona to perform at the Jazz Festival and continue his presentations and promotion of this musical genre.

Allen, a renowned amateur clarinetist and scholarly collector of classic jazz, will perform with his band, formerly led by Eddy Davis and currently led by pianist, double bassist and vocalist Conal Fowkes.

Woody Allen and his passion for jazz
Woody Allen, whose film name pays tribute to the clarinetist, saxophonist and orchestra conductor Woody Hermann, has found in jazz a true passion that he shares with the public through his music.
Over the years, Allen has played clarinet on several occasions, performing tunes by his favorite New Orleans jazz artists, including Sidney Bechet, George Lewis and Louis Armstrong.
His love for the big band music of his childhood, with artists such as Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw and Glenn Miller, is evident in his repertoire and demonstrates the depth of his knowledge of the genre.
The opening of the Voll-Damm Barcelona Jazz Festival with the performance of Woody Allen and his New Orleans Jazz Band promises to be an unforgettable evening.
