Starting next fall, a new section of Meridiana Avenue will begin construction. The section will go from Navas de Tolosa-Josep Estivill to Felip I.
The City indicated that the work will begin in the fall of 2022 and will be completed in the summer of 2023.
The objective is to leave two lanes for general traffic and one more in each direction for bus traffic. For their part, bicycles will go through the center with a segregated bike lane, passing through the Plaza de Ferran Reyes and the gardens of Maria Soteras.
The space will be widened to become a promenade that seeks to improve the walkway and connectivity between the two sides of the avenue as it passes through the Navas neighborhood.
Investment for Meridiana Avenue
The works for the development of this new section will have an investment of around 17.5 million euros, a figure that exceeds past investments.
On the other hand, the works between Mallorca and Navas de Tolosa-Josep Estivill streets are expected to be completed by May of this year.
This will complete the section in the Sant Martí district and then move on to the Sant Andreu district.
As a result, Meridiana will have one less lane of traffic in each direction. There will also be new crosswalks to improve the Meridiana cross connection.
Despite delays due to the pandemic, between 2023 and 2024 the transformation of the Meridiana to the Fabra i Puig area will be completed.
