Expedition to Asia 2022/2023 of the world’s largest wooden sailboat

Sweden’s Götheborg is the largest wooden ocean-going sailing ship in the world, attracting attention wherever it goes because of its majesty and imposing size.

And the visit to Barcelona is part of the expedition to Asia 2022/2023. He will spend the winter in the Catalan capital.

This is the first time that the ship has been in Barcelona and it is a good thing, since the city’s climate during the winter is the best in the region.

During two years of adventure they have sailed through Europe during 2022 and will continue their journey to Asia during 2023. In fact, seventeen years ago (between 2005 and 2007), Götheborg sailed to Asia.

Do you want to sail the boat?

You will be able to sail aboard the Götheborg as a paid deckhand. All you have to do is apply to do so and experience on board what it is like to sail on an 18th century ship.

The new sailboat (the replica) took 10 years to build and sailed the world’s seas for the first time some 19 years ago.

It is a true work of art, of design and structure that continues to be valid through the years.
