Young Argentinean on TikTok gives his opinion on the never-ending construction works at Sagrada Familia

A young Argentinian known on TikTok as @conradoev, has caused a stir on social networks by sharing a controversial theory about the endless works on the famous Sagrada Familia temple in Barcelona designed by architect Antoni Gaudí.

In his video entitled “Sacred Marketing,” the tiktoker expresses his amazement that construction never seems to come to an end.

In his analysis, the young man posits that the marketing behind the Sagrada Familia is the fact that it is always under construction. He explains that four million tourists visit this monument every year and, with their donations, contribute to the progress of the construction.

However, despite worldwide expectations to see it completed, the young man stresses that it is never finished.

Suspended due to pandemic

Work on the Sagrada Familia, originally planned to be completed in 2026, coinciding with the centenary of Gaudí’s death, had to be suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The video of the young Argentinian has generated several debates and mixed opinions on TikTok.

Some users argue that the construction of religious temples historically has been a long process, while others who have worked on the Sagrada Familia claim that there has been significant progress in recent years, with many parts fabricated off-site and then assembled there.

The never-ending works at the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona

It is true that the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona has been under construction for more than a century. But what is the reason behind this delay and when is it actually expected to end?

The architect Jordi Faulí i Oller, director of the construction team of the Sagrada Familia, explained that Gaudí designed a building of important dimensions and always knew that it would be built over a long period of time, with the collaboration of different generations.

The pace of construction varies because it depends on contributions and donations, since it is an expiatory temple. Moreover, when completed, it will be the tallest Christian church in the world.

The authorities expect work on the Sagrada Familia to be completed in 2026, in commemoration of the centenary of the death of the architect Antoni Gaudí.

The Tower of Jesus Christ, which will be the highest point of the basilica with a height of 172.50 meters, is scheduled to be completed on that date.

According to the Guinness Book of Records 2023, the Sagrada Familia church in Barcelona is one of the most visited architectural and religious monuments in Spain.

Designed by the renowned architect Antoni Gaudí, its construction began in 1882 and although it has been a long process, its majesty and beauty continue to fascinate tourists and locals alike.

While awaiting completion, the church remains an iconic symbol of Catalan architecture and culture.
