About Carla Simón and the film

Carla Simón is a 35-year-old filmmaker who tells in “Alcarràs” a family drama about the decadence of the rural world.

The film was born out of his real family experience and the struggle along with other farmers to stay true to the crop and the land. Always looking to bring peaches to people’s plates.

Alcarràs is a sample of the experiences of simple and hard-working people. Even the title of the film is named after the city where his aunts, uncles and cousins live.

It is a town located in the region of Segriá, Catalonia. It has 9,000 inhabitants and the people there live from the cultivation of fruit trees.

The story tells how farmers today want to convince their children not to continue cultivating the land. All because it is more expensive to grow compared to the price at which it is sold.
