At the end of February, work began on the construction of the Gastronomic Balcony of the Olympic Port.
Demolitions began in the Moll de Gregal and the progressive dismantling of former restaurant premises. These facilities were terminated in January 2023.
Other elements that will be demolished are the stair blocks and the pergolas under which the restaurant terraces were located.
The construction of a new access to the Nova Icària beach will also begin. This will provide a better connection between the Port’s activity and the city’s coastline.
These dismantling works, which have already begun, will be compatible with the activity of the Municipal Sailing Center, whose refurbishment will begin this spring.
Demolition work will be brought forward to mid-summer and construction of the new restoration areas will begin immediately.
The project includes the construction of 11 restaurants and three gastronomic stores that will be distributed along a modern and accessible promenade on the shores of the Mediterranean.
The Gastronomic Balcony of the Olympic Port
The Pier will have three vertical blocks with stairs and elevators that will reinforce accessibility and communication between the different areas of the Port.
It will have three seats to spend a wonderful time overlooking the sea.
For now, 80% of the gastronomic proposals that will be part of the culinary offer of the Balcony have already been awarded and work is underway to complete the rest.
The goal is for the Gastronomic Balcony to open its doors in the summer of 2024.
Other alternate works
Other works that are part of the transformation of the Port Olímpic also continue to move forward, seeking to create a new access to connect the Port to the city.
And in fact, the project of the new access that will connect the Moll de Mestral with the Litoral Avenue, is already a clear example of the progress and advance of the works.
The progress of the works shows how the new underground road that will cross the Paseo Marítimo will look like and will allow a new pedestrian entrance.
It will also be a single access point for vehicles once the current ramp on Marina Street disappears.
From this new entrance, vehicles will have direct access to the B:SM Litoral Port parking lot. Work on this new access is expected to be completed in early summer.
This new promenade-viewpoint facing the sea, with a wide gastronomic offer, is part of the blue economy. Companies and entrepreneurial projects related to nightlife, gastronomy and economic activity linked to the sea will be present.
In the external area, work has also begun on the installation of a pergola to provide shade and some sitting areas on the Mestral Pier.
