Barcelona’s El Prat Airport is ready to further expand its international connections, and this time, the Catalan capital is preparing to welcome Miami to its list of destinations. As such, Level Airlines has announced that as of March 31, 2024, it will offer direct flights to Miami from Barcelona three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Although the wait may seem long, the opportunity to discover Miami from Barcelona is very close. You can buy your tickets now on Level’s website, with prices starting at 249 euros.
Miami is an iconic city in the United States, known for its long beaches, sunny weather and the presence of numerous celebrities who have chosen it as their place of residence. Lucía Adrover, CEO of Level, has pointed out that Miami is an important tourist market for Barcelona.
This new direct route to Miami joins existing routes to other U.S. destinations, such as New York, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco, which already operate from El Prat Airport. Barcelona is increasingly becoming a hub for international connections, facilitating access to different parts of the world for travelers.
The rise of new low-cost direct flights to Miami
The announcement of this new route not only represents an opportunity for travelers, but also for the aviation industry. Level, a low-cost airline operated by Iberia, continues to diversify its long-haul offerings.
In addition, Level has added a sixth aircraft to its fleet, an Airbus A330-200, to meet the demand for this new route. The company seeks to provide an increasingly broad and robust product to its customers.
Miami as a gateway to the Americas
Miami is known for its importance in the entertainment, finance and business sectors, making it a magnet for companies seeking growth opportunities.
This new air connection will further strengthen the ties between Barcelona and Miami, two cities with a cosmopolitan and vibrant character. The flight schedule established by Level will allow passengers to enjoy their stays in both Barcelona and Miami.
However, Level is not the only airline that has focused its attention on Miami International Airport (MIA). In September, German-based Condor Airlines announced its entry into the group of low-cost carriers that will offer service between the Americas and Europe. This new competition promises to provide travelers with even more options for flights between the continents.
Condor Airlines plans to operate flights between Miami and Germany starting in May 2024, competing directly with Lufthansa, which already offers nearly 30 weekly flights on this route.
