In the heart of Barcelona’s Poblenou, a unique corner has emerged that transports its visitors directly to the relaxed and authentic atmospheres of Brooklyn’s neighborhood bars. Henry’s Bar, located at Llacuna, 92,
is the entrepreneurial project of Carles Velez, a son of Poblenou, and his British partner, Sen Enver.
This cocktail and burger bar, opened at the end of last summer, is presented as a version of the American “dive bar”, a concept we know here as the typical neighborhood bar or manolo bar.

Henry’s Bar: New York inspiration in Barcelona
The story of Henry’s Bar seems like something out of a romantic comedy. Carles Velez and Sen Enver met in New York when they were in their twenties, working across the street from each other in New York City bars.
Over the course of fifteen years, they toured the United States, immersing themselves in the hospitality scene, from bars and restaurants to cocktail lounges. Now, they have returned to their home in Poblenou with the mission of recreating the cozy and authentic atmosphere of American bars in the heart of Barcelona.
El Raval Restaurant: a piece of Barcelona in Texas
Orange leather sofas, dim lights in shades of red, a disco ball and Formica chairs create a cozy atmosphere with a touch of sleaze, evoking the atmospheres of David Simon’s series, such as ‘The Wire’ and ‘Deuce’.
From New York to Barcelona: an entrepreneurial journey
The couple, passionate about making customers feel at home, want to replicate the American culture where people spend more time at the bar than in their own homes.
Henry’s Bar’s offer goes beyond aesthetics and ambiance. The cocktail menu, designed by Sen Enver, features unique creations with a focus on flavor.
From the Smoking Melon, a smoky blend of Japan and Mexico with melon liqueur, mezcal, cucumber, yuzu and lime, to the inventive Tommy, a cocktail version of Vietnamese Tom Yam soup, each drink is an experience in itself.
In addition, for those looking for more traditional options, the bar offers classics such as gin and tonics and dry martinis.
As for food options, Henry’s Bar does not disappoint. With “smash burgers” made with finely chopped entrails, delicious and affordable, and priced at no more than nine euros, visitors can enjoy a gastronomic experience.
Popular prices and neighborhood atmosphere
Henry’s Bar is located on a neighborhood strip that reflects its authenticity and comfort. With well-drawn cañas at only 1.90 euros, a happy hour of Spritz cocktails and frozen margaritas at 5 euros (Monday to Friday from 4 to 8 pm), and a charming terrace with beach hammocks imported from Florida, the place has become a local favorite.
