The emblematic modernist kiosk of Font d’en Fargas has reopened its doors in the district of Horta-Guinardó. After a careful restoration that has respected its original image, this unique space is presented as a new meeting point for neighbors and visitors.
A historic space with new life
The reopening of the kiosk marks the end of a recovery process that has also included the old water bottling plant, a fountain and a grotto. The total investment has been nearly 3 million euros, aimed at restoring this corner to its former splendor and adapting it to today’s needs. The kiosk, now managed by the cooperative Granel SCCL, offers a terrace with 10 tables where you can enjoy a drink in a unique environment. In addition, this cooperative will be in charge of managing the public toilets in the modernist enclosure, thus improving the services available to the public.
Schedules designed for everyone
Opening hours have been adapted to offer the best service according to the season. During the autumn and winter, from November to March, the site will be open from 10:00 to 19:00 on weekdays and from 9:00 to 18:00 on weekends, holidays and holiday eves. In spring and summer, with longer days and warmer temperatures, the hours are extended: from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm on weekdays and from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm on weekends and holidays.
A more accessible and green environment
Not only has the kiosk been restored, but a project has also been carried out to improve the accessibility of the surrounding gardens. Now, this space offers a greener and more modern environment, inviting to stroll and enjoy an oasis in the middle of the city. The recovery of this emblematic site allows neighbors and visitors to once again enjoy a piece of Barcelona’ s historical memory. The modernist elements of the kiosk and the old bottling plant have been restored with the utmost respect for their original appearance and materials, but with new uses that integrate them into the current life of the neighborhood.
Restoration of the fountain and the grotto
The fountain and the grotto, characteristic elements of this space, have also undergone a careful restoration process. Components such as the fountain and the bench have been enhanced, and the rock that forms the grotto and the adjacent stone walls have been consolidated. All this contributes to enhance the natural and architectural beauty of the site.
A project designed for everyone’s enjoyment
The transformation of the Font d’en Fargas not only focuses on heritage restoration, but also on creating an accessible and functional space for the enjoyment of the community. The elimination of architectural barriers and the improvement of services make this place an ideal meeting point for all ages. With this intervention, the Barcelona City Council culminates an effort to dignify and revitalize a unique space that is part of the city’s cultural heritage. The investment made reflects the commitment to preserve history and, at the same time, adapt it to the needs of the present.
A corner to discover or rediscover
The reopening of the modernist kiosk invites locals and tourists to come to the Font d’en Fargas and enjoy this renovated enclave. Whether to have a drink on the terrace, stroll through the gardens or simply admire the modernist architecture, this space offers an experience that combines history, culture and leisure. La Font d’en Fargas resurfaces as an emblematic place, where past and present meet to offer everyone a unique space in the city.
