If you like music and art and want to live an unforgettable interactive experience, we tell you the plan. It is about conducting an orchestra in the Music Museum located next to the Auditori de Barcelona, so you can put rhythm to your life and visit its facilities.
Now you have the chance to be in front of the OBC Orchestra and the Municipal Band of Barcelona. At this time you will be able to conduct the musicians to interpret two well-known musical pieces of all times: Prelude of the opera Carmen by G. Bizet and the Ninth Symphony by Beethoven (Hymn of Joy). In real time and with your own gestures and movements you will be able to experience the feelings of orchestral conducting.
In the Museum you can also walk through its spaces to review the history of this wonderful art where a very complete sample of instruments from the most exotic and well known are exhibited.
The experience of conducting an orchestra at the Museum of Music
You can enjoy this novelty at the end of your visit to the museum. It consists of an interactive installation called “Conduct the Orchestra, Conduct the Band”. You will enter a small space where you will be able to see an enveloping screen in front of you and you will have to place yourself on a demarcated circle.
Just at that moment you must make the decision whether to conduct the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya to perform Beethoven’s Hymn of Joy or choose the Banda Municipal de Barcelona with the prelude to Carmen.
Then you can move your arms as you like, make gestures and other actions to direct the musicians. The best thing is that towards the bottom of where you are located, there is a semicircle that indicates whether you are doing well (green), average (orange) or terrible (red). If you manage to adequately meet the challenge, you will be congratulated at the end of the training.
On the occasion of the celebration of the Night of the Museums, the activity is free of charge with limited capacity. Sessions at 6 pm, 7 pm and 9 pm. The time of the experience is 5 to 7 minutes.
The history and evolution of art
In addition to conducting an orchestra at the Music Museum, you can also take a tour of its facilities. The exhibition begins with the display of various instruments representative of the evolution of music throughout history.
You can also marvel at a historic example of the Pleyer grand piano built in 1948. With this piano Pau Casals composed several of his works in exile in Prada de Conflent. You will also see the largest and most spectacular organs and pianos that even have decorative functions by having the shape of a cabinet, desk, table or giraffe.
