Next Tuesday, October 25, 2022, you will be able to see the partial solar eclipse in Barcelona. So from the city you will be able to see how the shadow of the moon partially blocks the sunlight.
And although it is not the first eclipse to be seen this year, it is a phenomenon that will always be worth mentioning and appreciating.
It is worth mentioning that, according to the National Astronomical Observatory, the eclipse will be visible in the Catalan capital around noon (between 11:33 a.m. and 12:42 p.m.). And the peak of the phenomenon will be at 12:07h. Although it will be visible from Barcelona, unfortunately only 4% of it will be visible, so viewing will not be so easy.
Recommendations for viewing the partial solar eclipse in Barcelona
However, there are points in the city where good visibility will be achieved, which is why you should be careful not to try to see the phenomenon by looking directly at the sun. It is advisable to look for lenses and filters to protect the eyes from severe burns.
Here we share with you some places in the Catalan capital where you can see the phenomenon much better:
The beach
It is a beautiful setting to see such a phenomenon. In fact, it is perhaps the first option you can think of. Good alternatives are Sant Sebastià or Barceloneta. But if there is a lot of congestion, you can move to Sitges or one of the small towns of Maresme (Vilassar de Mar, Calella or Mataró).
Carmel bunkers
It is one of the best places to see excellent views of both the city and the sky. It is a good place and one of the most visited when it comes to observing this type of natural phenomena. Tourists and locals alike flock there for the ultimate experience.
Fabra Observatory
It is the most appropriate and specialized place to see these natural phenomena. Likewise, on the mountain of Tibidabo, although at a lower altitude, Barcelona has this astronomical observatory with more than 115 years of history and the fourth oldest in the world in activity.
Tibidabo Park, ideal for viewing the partial solar eclipse in Barcelona
It is an excellent place to contemplate the moon and eclipses because it is a pollution-free site. Located more than 500 meters above sea level, the park located in the Collserola mountain range is an urban oasis. The park has the Collserola Tower and other attractions from where you can observe very well.
Montsec mountain range in Lleida
Although it is not as close as the other sites, the Sierra is a magical and natural environment to see the event, as it is ideal thanks to its clear skies. It is one of the best places to observe both in Catalonia and in the country.
