OMG is not a restaurant but a delivery format proposal.
Robots and Artificial Intelligence cook at OMG
The food-tech start-up “Remy Robotics” was the creator of this initiative. The company was born in 2019 and in its journey in the market created this restaurant together with a team of specialists in food design and other food science disciplines.
The idea was never to have robots replace chefs. We are not there yet. The new concept of intelligent cooking results from the combination of human labor and robotics.
The company believes that the emotional and sensory connection to cooking is a uniquely human experience, and that this will never change. But what we are looking for is for repetitive processes and tasks to change.
Under this scenario, every dish in GMO first goes through a preparation phase that is performed by humans.
Then, when everything is chopped, cut and ready to cook, the ingredients are sent to ovens and smart sensors in charge of controlling temperature, humidity, weight and other cooking parameters.
Likewise, robotic cooking is driven by Artificial Intelligence based on algorithmic cooking. It maintains machine-to-machine communication between intelligent ovens, refrigerators and robotic arms.
Thanks to this mechanism, food is cooked 40% faster compared to other delivery restaurants.
No more cold food
One of the biggest drawbacks of home delivery is that the ordered dish arrives home cold. To avoid this inconvenience that affects home lovers, Remy Robotics found the solution: have the ordered dish cooked on the way to your home.
Depending on where you are located, the AI program calculates how long it may take to prepare the dish along with the time it takes to arrive at your door. This makes it easier to keep it warm.
The tray acts as if it were an oven. Through a film with micro-perforations, the dish you order finishes cooking on the way home so that it is ready when it arrives at your door.
