On September 7, Aldi will open its first supermarket in Sant Adrià de Besòs. It is located at Avenida del Ferrocarril 1, on the corner of Rambla Guipúzcoa.
It has a sales room of more than 900 square meters and a staff of 17 employees. In Catalonia, the supermarket chain already has two other stores.
The new supermarket is a very good shopping option, as it offers around 2,000 products to the public. Of these products, 86% are private label and 80% are of domestic origin.
Aldi in Sant Adrià de Besòs is part of the new openings
In addition to this new store in Sant Adrià de Besòs, the brand’s expansion plan includes six other supermarkets, also inaugurated in September. In fact, on September 7, 2022 Aldi will also open its first store in Aranjuez (Madrid) and expand its presence in Granada.
It will also open new stores on September 14 in Granadilla de Abona (Santa Cruz de Tenerife). On September 28 in Almuñécar (Granada) and in Dénia (Alicante).
Aldi will also grow in the Valencian Community, where it will also open a new store in the Alicante town of Dénia. It will also continue to strengthen its presence in Tenerife with another store in Granadilla de Abona.
All this is part of the expansion plan throughout Spain.
From the new stores, the supermarket chain will also incorporate a team of about 90 people, although it already has more than 6,000 workers throughout the country.
With the September openings, Aldi completes a total of 380 supermarkets open throughout Spain.
The supermarket chain is looking to expand in the Canary Islands, where it has been present since last July and has grown to six supermarkets in operation.
Something about Aldi’s history
The store was born in a small town of Essen, Germany in 1945 by the idea of brothers Theo and Karl Albrecht. From his surname Albrecht and the word Discount, the name Aldi was born.
During the first years of existence and in the midst of post-war Germany after World War II, the Albrecht family sought to help their neighbors meet their basic needs at prices in line with the economic situation of the country at the time.
Over the years, this purpose was consolidated and complemented with a close customer service.
In Aldi supermarkets, the vision of the traditional grocer, attentive to listen to the customer’s needs, opinions and comments, is still alive and well.
The brand is currently comprised of the ALDI Nord and ALDI Süd business groups, with a presence in North America, Europe and Australia.
In Spain, it is part of the ALDI Nord group.
