The day of the Cursa de la Dona 2022 in Barcelona has arrived: this Sunday, November 6, the Women’s Race will be the protagonist.
It is one of the sporting events with a massive participation that takes place in Barcelona every year.
Up to 30,000 women runners will be able to register for this 2022 edition, with a reserve list in case any runner is unable to attend.
In the 2021 edition, in the midst of the pandemic, 18,000 women participated, while in 2019, 36,000 participants were registered. The race is open to girls from 10 years of age and older. The tour can be done running or walking.
This year also opened the option of doing the virtual race with a deadline of November 6.
The purpose of the Cursa de la Dona
The Women’s Race has a sense of solidarity oriented to the fight against breast cancer. Registrations were made via Web and are now closed. The options were to participate individually or in groups of two or three people, depending on the category.
The individual registration fee was 13.60 euros, but there were also group registrations. You can also buy bracelets, scarves and other souvenirs.
If you are one of the participants on the day of the race, you must present the registration confirmation email you received, your ID card or the registration receipt at the time of pick-up. You can carry it printed or in digital PDF format on your phone.
The race is not only held in Barcelona. It is also held in other Spanish cities; in fact, 9 editions have already been held between April and November.
The main Spanish cities have their own Women’s Race: Madrid, Valencia, Vitoria, Gijón, La Coruña, Gran Canaria, Seville, Zaragoza and, of course, Barcelona.
Attention to transport disturbances
Due to the “Cursa de la Dona”, the normal operation of public transportation will be affected this Sunday. For example, TMB reported that the 34 bus lines will alter their routes from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. During competition time it is best to use the subway as an alternative.
The race route will start at 9 a.m. on Reina Maria Cristina Avenue, then it will pass through Plaça d’Espanya, Paral-lel Avenue, as well as Floridablanca and Calàbria streets. Then along Gran Via, Plaça de Tetuan, Passeig de Sant Joan, Ronda de Sant Pere, Plaça Urquinaona and Plaça Catalunya. And in the final stretch along the ring road and Universitat square, Ronda de Sant Antoni, Sepúlveda and Viladomat streets.
It will end again in Paral-lel, in the streets of Tamarit, Lleida and Rius i Taulet Avenue, where the route ends.
