The Google Barcelona office

The Google Barcelona office

Thanks to the entrepreneurial ecosystem that attracts many to the Catalan capital and in case you didn’t know, the Google Barcelona office opened its doors in the city in mid-2022.

Since its inauguration, the headquarters in the Catalan capital has been providing commercial and consulting services to business clients. It was born with a staff of 40 workers who have left and are expected to continue to multiply over time. And it is Google’s first physical office in the city.

The multinational already had a head office in Madrid with some 300 employees, as well as a cybersecurity center of excellence in Malaga with international reach where some forty engineers work.

Although the Barcelona office is not a software development hub, it has a commercial character and mission. It is oriented to provide close and constant support to the company’s customers.

The beginnings of the Google Barcelona office

In its implementation phase in Barcelona, Google has been working with a coworking of the Spaces group located in Plaça Universitat, in the heart of the city (number 583 of Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes).

This was the first step for the company to consider renting its own larger corporate offices to grow in Barcelona in the future.

Since its arrival in the city in June 2022, the multinational has sought to actively contribute to the development of a competitive society through digital transformation in Catalonia.

At the time, the President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, celebrated the company’s commitment to Barcelona. This demonstrates that the city is an attractive and global scenario conducive to investment and the development of professional talent.

Catalonia is the engine of transformation for the whole of Spain and choosing Barcelona to open a Google office was a strategic decision.

For its part, Google says it will create a fund of one million euros to finance innovative projects to combat the climate emergency.
