The most important photojournalism photo exhibition in the world, World Press Photo 2022, arrived in Barcelona and you can enter for free on Sundays. It will be on display until December 11, 2022 at the Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona, CCCB.
The exhibition, organized by the Photographic Social Vision Foundation and in its eighteenth edition, brings together the winning photographs and multimedia productions of the World Press Photo 2022 competition. It includes the regional winning photos of which the contest highlights four overall winners.
The exhibition shows the public mostly unpublished works from our country, selected for their visual quality and for showing different points of view of current events. A whole world that shows the different views and panoramic views that invite reflection.
Themes of the World Press Photo 2022
In the 2022 edition of the exhibition, indigenous communities, traditional cultures and identity are the main themes on which there are different images. Also the environmental crisis, war conflicts and citizen protests.
The world’s most prestigious photojournalism contest, in its 2022 edition, is betting on a territorial model. This model divides the world into six regions in order to ensure greater representation, as well as diversity of stories and authors.
In addition, in this edition, new categories were created based on the format:
- Individual Photographs
- Photographic Reports
- Long-term projects
- Open Format

Some novelties this year in World Press Photo 2022
This year’s exhibition will include an expanded program of guided visits for the general public, on weekends for companies (behind closed doors) and for educational centers with prior reservation, subject to availability.
With the change of model, the 2022 edition of the World Press Photo has ensured greater diversity and balance of authors.
