From autumn of this year, a new service will be implemented in the Smou application. It is a button to know the availability of bicycles and anchorages of Bicing.
The application will incorporate a service that will let Bicing users know whether or not it is possible to find a bicycle or free space at a station, even 15 or 30 minutes in advance.
And it will be very useful, because subscribers will be able to plan their time and their trips around the city with this mobility option.

How Smou works to know the availability of bicycles and docking stations
It’s simple. If you want to know this information, just select the station of interest and click on the new “availability forecast” button when it becomes available.
That way, you can instantly see whether or not it is possible to find a bike or a tie-down available at a certain station. The possibility may be high, medium or low.
Obtaining the information is possible thanks to the incorporation of software that takes into account variables such as the station’s availability history. Also the weather situation and the routes taken daily by the vehicles that replenish the bicycles.
The new predictive service was presented to the public at the celebration of the Fiesta de la Bici, at Passeig de Lluís Companys.
During the event, attendees tested the service’s electric bicycles and promotional items.
This year Bicing celebrates 15 years of operation. It already has more than 7,000 bicycles and half a thousand stations in the city.
