The Guardia Civil has charged two young men, aged 26 and 23, residents of Sant Esteve de Palautordera, Barcelona, for carrying out dangerous activities in moving vehicles.
These individuals were caught performing push-ups and sit-ups on the hoods of cars and motorcycles, reckless behavior that was captured in videos shared on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
This type of irresponsible behavior has led to the indictment of those involved for an offense against road safety.
Anonymous reporting and reckless actions in moving vehicles
The investigation was initiated after a citizen made an anonymous complaint through the Civil Guard website. The complainant reported the existence of videos showing young people performing gymnastic exercises in vehicles in full traffic.
The Civil Guard was able to verify the authenticity of the videos, which showed extremely dangerous actions carried out on various roads in the region.
In one of the videos, a person is observed performing push-ups and sit-ups on the back hood of a car while driving on a conventional road.
In another incident, an individual stands in the trunk of a moving vehicle, dangles his legs out through the spoiler and performs acrobatics while being filmed from another vehicle.
Recklessness reaches its peak when the driver of a motorcycle performs sit-ups with his hands stretched between the gas tank and the lower part of the handlebars, while other vehicles are driving in the opposite direction.
Identification and declarations
Thanks to the information provided in the anonymous complaint and the verification of the videos, the Civil Guard was able to identify the alleged perpetrators of these reckless acts. Both young men were charged and their statements were subsequently taken.
The vehicles involved were driving on the BV-5119 road, at kilometer point 6.9, in the area known as the Costa del Montseny, as well as on the BV-5301, at kilometer 7, also known as the Refugios road.
Dangerous trend in social networks
This case highlights the growing concern about the impact of social networks on young people’s behavior. The quest for notoriety on these platforms has led some individuals to engage in extreme and dangerous activities for the sole purpose of generating viral content.
The indictment of these two young men underscores the importance of addressing online liability and the danger to road safety of imitating reckless behavior.
The Civil Guard warns about the legal consequences of participating in reckless actions on public roads and calls for awareness and responsibility when using social networks. Road safety must take precedence over the search for popularity on social networks.
